Northern Wilderness Outfitter's main lodge is located approx. 3 hours north of Edmonton, Alberta in a pristine country setting known for both Moose and Deer.  NWO's bear camp is on the banks of the Wabasca river 3 hours further north from the main lodge.  Bear densities are incredible and hunters booking with NWO have the opportunity to take 2 bears on each hunt!

The Cabin Country team harvested the bear and wolf shown on this page during the 2004' season.  We saw many bears from a variety of different hunting stands and locations.  The food at spike camp was excellent and the accommodations for a spike camp were great!  One interesting note is that Black Flies (the nemesis of all bear hunters) are virtually non-existent in Alberta.  Mosquito's can be thick but generally not till later in the season.

We hunted with a custom built Tar-Hunt shotgun - made by Randy Fritz in Bloomsburg, PA.  Shotguns are excellent medicine for the bears of this region.  Also, 1 out of every 3 bears is a color phase Black Bear.
