A Tip for Booking 2010'
We are just finishing one of the toughest seasons in the history of the Atlantic Flyway!  Even with the generally warm conditions SWP enjoyed one of the busiest and most successful years ever.  Our guides work hard and do their homework!
If you have never experienced a Seaway hunt, you must start thinking about it now.  We are already taking reservations daily and will be completely booked by late February.  We want to accommodate everyone - so help us plan an exciting trip for your group!

Western Zone Holds Great Possibilities for
the Seaway Team!

The boys above hold the fruits of our duck hunting labors!  My old buddy Jim
Tracey(L) showing off a Lesser Drake Bluebill and a gorgeous Drake Redhead.
Joe and George (C) with some of the best looking Drake Mallards of the season.
Tom Garretty (R) with a classic example of a Drake Redhead.

Here's Jim Tracey!  Jim is one of the 11 members on the task force that helps to
set duck hunting season dates for the North East Zone of NYS.  Jim has hunted
with me in the past and he's back displaying an example of a
Black/Mallard
hybrid.
Note: the off coloration in this duck's head.  His chest was also completely
black.

Skip, John and Brian with a limit of Mallards and Geese! (corporate outings
are a big part of the business at Bill Saiff Outdoors)

The boys from Watertown getting it done with Capt. Bill Saiff III and the SWP
team.  Here is Chris Rowland, Rick Gafel and Rich Miles with their limit of
Redheads taken while gunning aboard the Seaway#1 in the Finger-lakes region
on NYS.

Happiness is a full limit of Mallards and Redheads!

Here are some shots from today's scouting mission in the
Finger Lakes.  We are looking forward to some exciting
gunning with our clients.  I dropped the boat off today,
secured excellent lodging for our customers and photo-
graphed all the waterfowl below!!!  This will be a Western
Zone hunt to remember!

I hope that these photos stir the soul of all waterfowlers
who view them.  The Seaway Team is getting ready to push
back the boundaries of Western Zone gunning! - Join Us!

Northern Zone Ends and here come the ducks!!!

This should make for very exciting gunning as we head to
the Finger Lakes in Late Dec. & Jan.!

Here are the shots everybody has been asking about.  This
buck was taken at Buck Stop Outfitting with guide Stan Eden.
We have this buck on tape and he will be worked into our
Whitetail seminars for the upcoming show season.  He is a true
300 lb. buck sporting 12 pts.  I took this brute on the last day of
our Alberta hunt as friend Tim Paige rolled the video!

Warm Temperatures Slow Migration but Seaway
Team gets the job done anyway!!!

The Photos above show a classic mix of ducks and geese. In Mid-November
Canada Geese can be taken readily in local agriculture fields.  Generally, our
backcountry pot holes are still open for superb Mallard and Black Duck shoots.
Boat hunts on open water give gunners a mixed bag opportunity at Mallards,
Gadwall, Widgeon, Bufflehead and other duck species!
Here is another classic example of boat hunting during November with the
Seaway Team.  This hunt included Teal, Mallard, Blacks, Gadwall and Geese.

My buddies Brian Flagg and John O'Connor with some nice Buffs and Whistlers.
Here is first time gunner "Mattie" showing that girls just have to out-do the boys!
Mattie and Tom Garretty hunted Thanksgiving day with the Seaway team.  They
had a great shoot and lots of Turkey!

Here's what its all about!  Joe Talarigo (PA) sharing
a duck hunt with his son.. The team got a few birds to
mount and some memories that will last a lifetime.

The women are welcome at SWP.  We believe that its
in the sports best interest to include the whole family.
Deb Pettey hugs Thor in the middle of a Classic late
season Mallard shoot.

Ron Brynarsky and his sons traveled from
Pennsylvania to have a go at Bull Whistlers.
Here are some of the nice drakes that the
boys are sending to the taxidermist.

Cold conditions, huge decoy rigs, birds dive-bombing the dekes and classic
gunning helped punctuate a definitive end to the Northern Zone season.
We're headed to the finger lakes in late December and January. Visit our
site again as we keep you updated on the duck traffic in the Western Zone!

Goose & Duck Action remains hot through early November!

Young guns- this is the Dolansky Boys with their buddy Mike on opening day of
the second half.
Their dad Bob has been bringing the boys for the last 3 years and they
represent the next generation of duck hunters.  America's youth balancing school,
hockey and the great sport of waterfowling!
Diversity,  its what makes Seaway hunts great.  Here are our good friends Paul and
Charlie Gibbons showing why late October and early November is a great time at
SWP.  The transition time period allows hunters to take a variety of dabbling ducks,
Canada Geese and even early divers arriving from Canada.  Goose numbers are at
their peak during this time so hunters wanting goose action should look to this time frame.

Goose hunting during early November is as close to a guarantee in waterfowling
as you will find with Seaway.  With over 35,000 acres of prime goose hunting at
our disposal - we can get waterfowlers on the geese every day.
Dan Carbone (NH)
and his gang, Matt Thompson (NY) and Tom Antisdel and his buddy George (NH)
show the fruits of their goose hunting labors.
Check out smiling Chris Bourne (L)- the newest addition to the
Seaway team, getting it done on Canada Geese.

The Gibbons boys (NH), doing their best to thin down the Atlantic Population of
ducks.  11 yr. old "Suzie" came along for the ride and backed up "Thor" on some
good open water retrieves.  Veteran Seaway guide Jim Rehley pictured above and
Frank the Tank looking on below.
Check out the Float Hunts- Great Quality/Great
Action!

Here are some of the best looking Gadwall and Widgeon of the 2009' season.
Early float hunts have been quite successful and as the weather turns colder, we
look forward to more exciting open water gunning!

Duck Opener a Huge Success!
Opening weekend saw sportsmen from New York, Pennsylvania
Maryland and Quebec, Canada.  Here are the photos that show
why duck hunters from throughout the east gun with the Seaway
team!

Above, Maryland guide Dan Houck with his dad and friends pose with the Wood
ducks and Mallards taken from one of our back country pot holes.

The  Seaway team manages or owns over 10 different backcountry wetlands.  These holes produce, Wood Ducks, Blacks, Mallards and a sampling of other dabbling ducks.

This gang of Mallards, Wood Ducks, Teal and Blacks represent a classic private shoot where the boys collected their count in just 40 minutes!!!

This is what early season in the back country is all about.  Wood Ducks like the one pictured at right are classic examples of what gunners can expect to see.  "Thor" made a great retrieve on this beauty and I snapped this shot to show the elegance of this little duck in the light of an early morning sunrise. These intrinsic qualities are the icing on the cake when hunting with the Seaway team.
Seaway Guide Chris Bourne helps us lead these hunters to a
60 Bird shoot on the 5th day of the season.  10 different species
were collected including Mallards, Blacks, Gadwall, Widgeon
and Teal.

Nobody knows Perch River like the Seaway team.  Below are just
a couple of photos that show why we gun the Perch during the
1st. season.

Masters at the art of Rigging Dekes!
My old buddy and Seaway guide Jim Rehley poses in the middle of the rig with Mike Acierno and Judd & Todd Wagner. Jim and I rigged this blue water flat with a combination of "Low Impact" motion decoys as well as a smattering of moving field decoys.  This combination illustrate exactly how live bird look when using the shallow of this watershed.  The natural appearance made incoming waterfowl committ without hesitation.....

Below are the results of this well managed hunt...

High Impact End to September Goose!

7 take 56 Canada's on the last day of Sept. Goose.

Bill III, Dad and Rick - shaking it down on the last day of
resident geese.  Spending time afield with family and friends
----its the best part of hunting!

& D3-TV joins the Seaway Gang
for great Goose Hunting!

Jeff Coats (Pit Boss), Rod Cockrell (Camera), Tim Furness (Producer)& Rich
Ferguson (Dakota Decoys) pose after a bang-up shoot with SWP.  We decoyed
these geese to a green grass field in a region where excessive moisture has prevented
the cutting of corn and other crops.  The action was fast and should make for
some great television
D3-TV Getting it done with the Seaway Team!
Jeff Coats (Pit Boss) is featured here photographing an incoming flock of 12 Canada's.  We pitched them in the rig for photos - even with everyone standing and picking up dekes.
Pit Boss Quote - "Hands down the best two days of goose hunting we've ever experienced!"
1st Day - 40 Geese in 40 Minutes
2nd Day - 40 Geese in 35 Minutes

"Frank the Tank" - Walking and Flagging as we put the high pitched flurry calling
on passing flocks of Migrators.  We broke out several huge flocks - Below are the
results of our efforts!

Mike, Lucky Mike W, Matt and Mike W jr. (all from NH)with a mix of Resident
geese and Migrators that Bill and Frank broke out of passing flocks.  A perfect
example of why sportsmen travel from all over the east to gun early season
with the Seaway team.

Caskinette Lofink Ford Mercury is responsible for getting us in and out of the field
every day.  Our Green F-250  is a goose hunting machine.  Here is the Caskinette
gang on one of their corporate outings with us. Joe, Jerry, Mike and Rick hit the
goose hard with Bill on the Tug Hill Plateau....

The 1st. Half (early Sept.)

Bob Kovel and his wife Nancy hunted opening day with the Seaway team.  George
Mead (R) joined us in a recently harvested Wheat field for some early morning action.
Bob and Nancy are on the board of directors of Eastern FNAWA (Foundation for
North American Wild Sheep).  They bought our opening day  hunt at the FNAWS
dinner and auction in Lancaster, PA last February.
We will be donating another
hunt this year!

The boys from New Hampshire strike again!  40 geese on the ground and picking
up decoys at 6:45 am.  In a rare occurrence, geese were on the wing by 6:10 am.
Jeff MacDowell, Larry Untiet and Bob Silkman shot straight as the big resident
Canadas rained in on our field.  When the dust settled the boys had made the Seaway
team proud with their deadly display of unerring accuracy!!!!
Below is the field
set that we used to get the job done.

Taking great care to rig correctly for the topographic variances in this field, the
team put nearly every group directly in the pocket, providing world class gunning
for all hunters.

Canada Goose Hunting - Tops in our Region!!!
We are very proud of our Canada Goose shoots The Seaway Team hunts over
35,000 agricultural acres in the Seaway region. Our consistency in Canada Goose
hunting is unmatched.  Currently, migrating AP birds are moving into the area.
Numbers of Canada Geese have increased over the last three days.  Gunning is
consistent and we are well on our way to a banner year!

Jamie Abel of the Sodus Pt. Lodge
hunting geese with the SWP Team!

Jamie Abel owns and operates the Sodus Pt. Lodge in Sodus Point, NY.  We know this area intimately having run our Brown Trout fishing operation there for 10 years.  Jamie's Lodge is perfect for our late season hunting operations and it's right in the heart of some of the best duck hunting that's available.  If you're looking for a late season outing to extend your season - this is it!  Here's what Jamie had to say after gunning with us this year!

Testimonial

If you are considering a duck or goose hunt with SWP, do not hesitate any longer. As an avid waterfowler I can honestly say that any hesitation would be your loss. I've hunted with Bill and his team and I can say it is top notch and professional in every way. He has all the toys and tools from the best decoys and blinds to the best boats and equipment not to mention dogs that live for the retrieve. Bill's vast knowledge of local and flight birds tipped with superb calling ability adds up to one thing, " LOTS OF BIRDS IN THE KILL ZONE".

The fact that he has thousands of acres of private and leased swamps and fields for his gunners only dictates where the next super shoot is and not if. I have driven the back roads for miles around his hunting perimeter and have seen thousands of resting birds only to find out that most of those sites are resting for SWP.

Give SWP a try and you'll soon understand why PROFESSIONALS is part of the name.                Jamie Abel

Scenes from last year's late season.

Here are the Old Squaws we promised!

Here, the seaway team guns "Old Squaw" along the sands south of Henderson Harbor, NY.  Our 8 man team took 45 Drake Old Squaw and 3 White-Winged Scoter on this shoot.  This is "World Class" gunning that is available anytime Lake Ontario's winds are calm.

Above, Capt. Ron Stein talks Old Squaw hunting with Jamie Abel.  Old Squaw ducks fly the string rigs and provide "Post Up" gunning inside 20 yards.  Populations of Old Squaw are increasing on Lake Ontario and the Seaway team is looking forward to setting the standard on how and where they are hunted.  Pass shooting of these ducks is "Old School"!  We are prepared to offer shooting of decoying birds as in the photos above.  "Roxy" makes a fine retrieve on a drake that was taken at 15 yards!
