| Football Browns assault baitfish clouds along the shores of Lake Ontario just after ice-out. From the middle of April until the middle of May we look for the warm water pockets that hold these elusive Browns. The Brown Trout's fighting determination and strange appearance make them legendary in our waters. When Browns are on the feed, they gorge themselves. -- No wonder they look like footballs! |

Bill Saiff III with a pair of Summer Browns Caught in the Shipping Lanes! |
Summer Browns (June & July) Some great Brown Trout action can be had in late June and early July. Few anglers take advantage of this time period and that is a mistake. While the quantities are not as vast (compared to the spring fishery) the quality is top drawer. Here Capt. Bill Saiff III shows two footballs taken during the month of July. Bonus Lake Trout and Chinook Salmon were taken as well. We specially rig high rods at this time of year for the purpose of bagging bonus Browns! |
